My name is Emilie Alpert, and I am a Producer/Shooter/Editor based in North/Central NJ. I specialize in developing and creating video, photography, marketing design, and more.
My most recent accomplishment has been the recent success of my first film as Director of Photography and Editor, "Fascination: Helena's Story" which won the award for Best Documentary at the New York City International Film Festival,
Currently, I am most avidly working as a freelance video editor and cinematographer, but also posses a wide variety of knowledge and equipment in order to wear many hats on set. My ultimate goal is to one day be a Producer of Documentaries and and Reality TV.
As a child I avidly studied the arts since I started playing violin at age 6. I soon became the youngest member ever to join the NJ Inter-generational Orchestra. From age 9-12 I participated in professional acting and voice lessons, and worked for DM Kids Management during that time. I began playing guitar at age 12, and then drums at age 14. My freshman year in high school, I received an exclusive invitation to the Cranford High School Drumline. I studied sewing, pattern-making, and fashion design starting at age 14. I went on to practice the arts in my spare time as I built a career starting at age 17 in Non-Profit/Social Services management until when I began to pursue Plus Size Modeling starting in 2012. Since then, I have freelanced as a Runway, Commercial Print, and Fit model with various companies and agencies in the NJ/NYC. I have also stood out as a blogger and event host/planner. I have also had the opportunity to pursue acting, by starring in Investigation Discovery Channel's real-crime drama, "Frenemies: Loyalty Turned Lethal." I also worked on Orange Is The New Black: Season 2, National Geographic's show, "Brain Games," and an upcoming Holiday Blockbuster for 2015 called "Sisters," starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
I soon realized that I was more interested in the work that goes into a production than being the center of attention. I have worked closely with crews, both large and small. I picked up my first DSLR in early 2014 and quickly learned important key aspects to lighting, composition, technical specs, lenses, and more. In Summer of 2014 I converted my home to a studio share, which has since evolved int an event video production startup called Art Contra Studio.
